Dr. Taunya Wideman-Johnston is an advocate. She is motivated by research and seeks opportunities to continue to inspire change using strength-based approaches to disability. Taunya has been involved in public advocacy for the last 20 years. Her roles in advocacy evolved during these years and have continued to offer greater depth to life with a disability. Taunya's work reframes living with a disability using counter narratives. She provides insight into diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within educational institutions and the broader community. Taunya continues to mobilize knowledge about the inequities that those with disabilities experience and shares how disability can be re-imagined into an asset-based perspective.
